Mission Statement: “A Free Africa Full Of Love and Happiness”

Our History:
The FreeAfrica website was established by a concerned Zimbabwean living in Canada who after having been silenced for a long time by Zimbabwe’s brutal regime – with very limited access to the free media – decided to become an independent news media developer.
While this website was initially started as a personal initiative to have one’s voice heard, it has grown tremendously; and in the first six months of its operation, it had achieved well over 50 000 hits per month. To date we are featured in various international and local media links including community and civic society organizations’ websites.
Through our feedback page we have received numerous complimentary messages from well-wishers, writers and journalists, including human rights activists who appreciate our policy of non-partisanship and non-discrimination.

Our Agenda:
At FreeAfrica we promote true freedom of speech and expression, as well as respect for human rights. Today FreeAfrica enjoys support and readership from all over the world; including Zimbabwe, South Africa, Seychelles, Japan, Italy, United States of America, Canada, United Kingdom, Austria and Australia.

Our fast growing popularity has encouraged several independent journalists, writers and activists to contribute regularly to the FreeAfrica website.

Our Dream:
Our FreeAfrica Dream is to forever continue reporting news and other human rights matters and events as transparently and fairly as we possibly can, without being subjected to any censorship to freedom of speech and expression. We are also committed to the promotion of cultural diversity in a progressive interdependent multi-cultural global village.

What We Mean:
The African word “thabo” in the name of our website is translated from the Setswana language of Southern Africa as “happiness”, which is what freedom of speech and expression (the “FreeAfrica” referred to in the name of the website) represents for the hopes and dreams of the African people.

Your Opportunities in FreeAfrica:
We invite all our readers to share opinions and news with us through our popular Feedback page. Send your comments also, through the Letters to The Editor section. Contributions in this respect can be sent to us via our feedback page. You can also register officially with us to become one of our accredited contributors to nation building. Please email us directly at: info@freeafrica-thabo.comto submit you intentions to be one of our members.
